By Dr. Chuck VancePastor, Calvary Baptist Church Have you ever heard of the KFC’s of Successful Living? I learned these many years ago as the Colonel and I discussed them over a bucket of chicken one day. I have found them to be true ever since I learned them and committed them to be controlling principles in my life. Through the years whenever I stray from keeping them in priority placement in my life, I begin to struggle, and whenever I return them to a place of priority, gets better. So just pretend we are sitting down with a bucket between us and my legal pad and pen in front of us and let me write them down for you. I promise, they will help you achieve success in your life. The K stands for “Keep Your Focus”. This is essential for success in the work and business areas of your life. You don’t need to live life in a scattered, haphazard manner of living. A friend of mine calls this “Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing” You have to find a system that you can make yours that lets you face you time and tasks in a focused, prioritized, and organized way. It doesn’t matter if it is digital, paper, or both, just find a system and make it yours after you have proved its effectiveness for you. The F stands for “Find Your Balance”. This deals with the area of mental, emotional, and wellness success. You guessed it, you need to eat right, sleep enough, and exercise to keep you balance. We all struggle to find the time to do this is the hustle and bustle of our contemporary lives, but it is a vital need, for you to be a success in life. One more key is the need to play and relax. Remember the old saying, “All work and no play makes Chuck a dull boy.” Last, but not least, the C stands for “Check Your Motives.” This third area deals with the key to moral and ethical success in life. To a large degree the current economic struggle we are in globally, not just nationally, comes from a period of time where the motive of “greed” was not checked on and avoided. Moral and ethical lapses never turn our good in the long run. For a moment it may look like you have gotten away with it, but bad motives always seem to come back and bite you in the “you know where”. So, check those motives every day and in all situations. It will do you good. Hope I have given you something to think about today. Till next time, happy thinking… With Pen in Hand, Dr. Chuck This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
